Millie Bobby Brown (14) jongste ooit op lijst invloedrijkste mensen

Actrice Millie Bobby Brown (14) is nog piepjong maar ontpopt zich al als waar stijlicoon en wordt nu al uitgenodigd voor de grootste evenementen en festivals. Zo was ze zelfs afgelopen weekend bij het festival Coachella in Californië, waar Beyoncé een onvergetelijke show weggaf en het festival daarna door velen Beychella werd genoemd. Velen zullen Millie kennen van de succesvolle Netflix-serie Stranger Things, waarin ze Eleven speelt. Nu staat ze als jongste persoon ooit op de lijst van invloedrijkste mensen door Time magazine. 

Aaron Paul
Emmy-winnende acteur Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) schrijft op de website van Time een stukje over Millie. “Ik dacht, ze is twaalf, laten we ijs halen. Nee. Ze was misschien wel twaalf in jaren, maar haar geest en gedachten waren tijdloos. Een wijze vrouw sprak vanuit haar engelachtige gezicht. Het was alsof ik sprak met een toekomstige mentor met een perspectief waar ik op die leeftijd alleen maar van had kunnen dromen. Of op elke leeftijd, als ik eerlijk ben.”

100 invloedrijkste mensen
Jaarlijks stelt het Amerikaanse Time magazine een lijst samen van de 100 meest invloedrijke mensen. Dit jaar staan er een record aantal van 45 vrouwen op, now we’re talking! Zes van de top 100 staan op covers van de speciale uitgave van het tijdschrift: #MeToo oprichtster Tarana Burke, tenniskampioen Roger Federer, actrice Tiffany Haddish, zangeres Jennifer Lopez, actrice Nicole Kidman en Microsoft-CEO Satya Nadella. Time’s hoofdredacteur Edward Felsenthal vertelt over de lijst: “Het is geen maatstaf voor macht of een verzameling van mijlpijlen, maar een aanduiding van personen van wie hun tijd nú is aangebroken.” Bekijk hieronder de zes covers.

Since becoming CEO of @microsoft in 2014, writes Walter Isaacson, a professor of history at Tulane University and a former managing editor of TIME, has restored the company’s spirit of innovation. Consider its new product strategy, which emphasizes cloud computing and allowing people to collaborate across platforms. Nadella also preaches the importance of empathy and making products that work reliably. The result is that in the four years since he inherited a sticky wicket, Microsoft’s market value has increased 130%. @rogerfederer is one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018—and one of our six #TIME100 covers. “It’s no secret that Roger Federer is the greatest tennis player ever,” writes @thisisbillgates, a co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. “But not as many fans know about what Roger is doing off the court.” Twice, Gates writes, “I’ve had the thrill of being his doubles partner to help raise money for his foundation, and we’ve become friends in the process. I’ve learned how sincerely Roger and his team are working to improve the life prospects for poor children—a mission that stems from his childhood visits to his mother’s home country of South Africa and seeing extreme poverty firsthand.” He adds: “Roger knows that effective philanthropy, like great tennis, requires discipline and time.
